Bierzo

Bierzo is a denomination of origin (DO) established in 1989 West of the province of León, In Castilla y León, Spain. The Bierzo cultivation zone is located in the Sil River Valley, and the preparation of wines protected by this denomination is made only with authorized grape varieties. They stand out as main, Among the inks, the opera and among the white, Mrs. Blanca and Godello. In addition, three experimental varieties are included although pending the relevant authorization by the Junta de Castilla y León.

Experimental varieties improvement are: Tempranillo, Merlot y Cabernet Sauvignon. Only its use for the elaboration of rind wines of parenting and reserve is allowed, in a proportion not exceeding the 15 %.

It constitutes the largest of the province in terms of quality, quantity, vineyard surface. It stands out as one of the best of Spain and with great international projection especially in the United States and China.
