The winery
Casa Ravella is a family winery related to the world of wine from 1700. Welcome to the D. O. Penedès, with vineyards in different municipalities of LAlt Penedès; Can Font (St. LLorenç dHortons), Cal Suriol (Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues), The Booth and Montargull (Avinyonet del Penedès) and Home Ravella (Subirats). The winery is situated in the centre of the finca Cal Ravella, in the village of l'ordal, located about 325 meters above sea level.
Its terroir, own of the subzone “Costers dOrdal” It characterized by soils francoarcillosos, permeable, resting on a base calcareous and have low organic matter content. We find in these soils sediments of coral reefs of the miocene, fact that confirms that the farm in the tertiary era was under the sea level.
Currently has 200 you. vineyard, among which we can find local varieties such as Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada, as well as the foreign Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. Some years ago, marketed its products under its brand name and self-signed.
For the development of their still wines and cavas controls the productions through pruning, the subscriber and other work in the field. Also follow all the process of maturation of the grape, to select it, and vendimiarla at their optimum.
A bet important to try to integrate their vines to the environment has been to adapt the plantation to the ecological agriculture, with a record of the Catalan Council of Agrarian Production Ecological (CCPAE).
