Description

Tasting notes: CHÂTEAU GAZIN – CHÂTEAU GAZIN 2013 RED (MAGNUM)

  • wine is flexible, it has no traces of acidity or lack of maturity. Sample the traditional notes of Pomerol: red fruits, then undergrowth and meaty fragrances, smoky and toasty notes, but without having the same intensity as in better vintages. However, this vintage 2013 will offer a good wine, easy drinking young, developing more complexity after a few years of aging, but it's probably not worth prolonging it more than 10/12 years old

The winery

the origins of Château Gazin date from 1772, when the Pomerol vineyards were bought by Antoine Feuilhade. Before the lands were planted with vines, used to build a hospital. With the years, Château Gazin was sold and resold to numerous owners before it was purchased by the current owners, the Bailliencourt family in 1946.

The Château Gazin vineyard is quite unique in the region as its vines are planted on a single plot. This is unusual for Pomerol, where many of the vineyards consist of non-contiguous parcels.
